Hello parents,
Here are a few math examples from class today.

2nd grade level

You can break the numbers into 10s and 1s like we have done before or keep the first number "whole" and add the second number in parts.  I have done this below.  I am trying to have them get away from using pictures all the time.

26 + 23 = __

26 + 20 = 46
46 + 3 = 49

Subtraction- it is always best to keep the first number "whole" and subtract the second number in parts.

36 - 14 = __

36 - 10 = 26
26 - 4 = 22

3rd grade level- we have started multiplication as repeated addition or combining equal groups
Here are 4 stars.

Each star has 5 points.

There are 20 points in all.

5 + 5 + 5 + 5 = 20

4 x 5 = 20
